Playloom: Family Weaving Adventure at Keat Hong

PlayLoom Event 2025

Looking for a fun, creative activity that gets the whole family involved? Playloom brings giant interactive art installations to Keat Hong Community Club this March, where children and families can weave colourful, upcycled fabrics onto whimsical, larger-than-life characters.

From March 14-23, 2025, this unique community art installation offers a hands-on experience that combines play, creativity, and sustainability. The towering character structures, created by local artist Shanlyn C and produced by social enterprise THIRTYTWOCM, feature hidden drawers filled with vibrant materials for endless weaving possibilities.

What makes Playloom special?

Playloom isn’t just about looking at art—it’s about creating it together. Here’s what makes this event worth visiting:

  • Development through play: Young children practice fine motor skills while weaving, while older kids and adults can experiment with different techniques
  • Climbing allowed: Children can explore by climbing onto the structures for an added layer of fun
  • Family bonding: The installation encourages families to create together, fostering teamwork and shared experiences
  • Sustainable creativity: All materials are upcycled, teaching children about reusing resources in creative ways

“We hope this installation will inspire not only our younger residents but also families to spend quality time together, engage in hands-on creativity, and rediscover the joy of play,” says Ms. Cindy Chng, Keat Hong CCMC Chairperson.
